Sporting Reasons to Choose Birmingham for Your Meeting

At Lime Venue Portfolio we know that Birmingham is becoming an increasingly popular option for companies looking to find cost effective meeting rooms to hire. Organisers are increasingly shunning the capital and turning to the UK’s second largest city.  By choosing to use meeting rooms in Birmingham you can find competitive day delegate rates and boardrooms or suites ideally suited to both larger gatherings and small groups, all in a vibrant city which has plenty going for it.

Birmingham is Britain’s biggest sporting city, with a great legacy of sporting success.  Home to Aston Villa and Birmingham City, Warwickshire County Cricket Club, Edgbaston Priory and Birmingham and Solihull RFC.  Whether you’re a sports fan or not, sporting venues are often incredibly impressive architecturally and a great place to host an important business meeting. No modern stadium is built without huge consideration as to how it will be used on ‘non match days’.

As the UK’s largest collection of unusual venues, we’re proud to work with many of Birmingham’s leading sporting venues, so if you’re considering hosting your meeting outside London and want to impress your clients, here are the top sporting reasons to consider booking your one of our unique meeting rooms in Birmingham.

1 / 11

Aston Villa

Aston Villa FC are one of the country’s oldest professional football clubs, founded in 1874.  Known affectionately as The Lions, the club has called Villa Park their home since 1897 and was the first English stadium to have hosted international football matches in three different centuries.

Few sporting venues can rival Villa Park, with its reputation as one of the finest sports stadia in the country and its fantastic city centre location making it ideal for private business meetings.  Meeting rooms here can be both cosy or vast, from the intimacy of booking a box for six overlooking the stands to the large syndicate rooms capable of seating up to 600.  An important meeting in a setting with such sporting significance is bound to impress attendees, especially when you add award-winning catering into the mix!

One of the most iconic cricketing grounds in the country, Edgbaston Stadium is home to Warwickshire County Cricket Club and was established in 1882.  With its 25,000 seater capacity and indoor cricket centre, Edgbaston is the fourth largest cricket ground in the country and hosts a variety of major events both sporting and non-sporting.

Edgbaston has also been crowned ‘Best Venue’ at the prestigious Birmingham Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards, sealing its reputation as a go-to destination for those hosting important meetings, conferences and other corporate events.  With a midweek delegate day package for your meeting you can get to sample the award-winning fare with the finger-buffet lunch and desserts which are included, as well as enjoying refreshments throughout the day and making use of the modern, stylish and high-tech meeting rooms.

Ricoh Arena

When it comes to sport, the Ricoh Arena has several strings to its bow - as well as renowned rugby club Wasps, the stadium is also the home ground of Wasps Netball and Coventry City Football Club.  This seriously impressive arena also serves multiple functions outside the sport, benefitting from a 121-bedroom DoubleTree by Hilton hotel which is ideal for the hundreds of international guests who fly in to nearby Birmingham International for both sporting and business events.  There’s also an on-site casino, two restaurants, a coffee shop and a bakery, not to mention a staggering 20,000 square meters of versatile event space.

If you’re looking for meeting rooms in Birmingham it’s hard to find anything to match the Ricoh Arena if you want to find everything under one roof.   There are dozens of meeting rooms, suites, theatres and boardrooms to choose from, all featuring state of the art equipment included as part of the day delegate rate.  You can even book a 24-hour package if you have people flying in or travelling a longer distance to reach you, with breakfast included on top of the standard package.  With so many facilities to help your attendees enjoy their free time, few venues could impress as much as the Ricoh Arena.

Edgbaston Priory Club

Edgbaston Priory has recently re-opened following a multi-million pound redevelopment project, and this private members’ tennis, squash and leisure club is considered one of the best in the country.  It hosts the annual WTA’s Aegon Classic and since its regeneration it now has no fewer than 32 indoor and outdoor tennis courts and ten squash courts, as well as a sparkling new clubhouse which is double the size of its predecessor.

This is a meeting venue which simply oozes high-class elegance and charm.  The meeting rooms are intimate but spacious enough to accommodate up to 35 people, while the competitively priced midweek day delegate package allows you to sample fine food prepared and served by our dedicated chef and in-house team.  Once proceedings are at an end, unwinding and socialising over a quick round of tennis could be an ideal way to put delegates at ease and further cement those new business relationships.

You don’t have to be a sports fanatic to appreciate the impressive scale, scope and sheer beauty of these sporting venues.  If you’re looking to escape run-of-the-mill meeting rooms, heading to the country’s second city and hosting your meeting in one of these unique and breath-taking venues could be just the ticket for impressing your guests.

If you want to find out more about these or any of the other fantastic Birmingham venues Lime Venue Portfolio have, simply get in touch with our expert team today.
