Exclusive Venue Hire and Dinner Event Packages for Charities - York

National Railway Museum offers an unusual venue for charity dinners and drinks receptions in York. You can expect fine food, fantastic service and an exceptional event.

In 1975 the National Railway Museum was opened at Leeman Road in York. The huge former steam locomotive depot, only 700m from York Minster was an ideal site for a National Railway Museum and, following its conversion and opening as the very first national museum outside London, the museum was an immediate success with the public. We're part of SMG, a family that includes the Science Museum and the National Media Museum.

Charitable Activity:

We are a charity ourselves and therefore understand the importance of helping other charities and the community.

If you’re looking to hire a venue in York for your event, we will be more than happy to help offering our discounted charity rates.

The former diesel depot adjacent to the Great Hall was added as a store and in 1999 this was rebuilt to become ‘The Works’, providing public access to the Museum’s collections stores and workshops and a viewing gallery overlooking York Station.

Both Station Hall and Great Hall create the perfect atmosphere from intimate drinks receptions to banquets for up to 600 guests, catering for awards ceremonies and gala dinners in this stunning and unique setting.
