Questions about the venue:

Are there any restrictions on hire of IWM North?
Imperial War Museum North is a very adaptable and unique venue. As one of the North West’s most popular visitor attractions, some restrictions may be put in place based on the type of event you would be looking to book. Our main exhibition space is not available for hire during our museum opening hours, but is available for hire in the evening. We do have a number of spaces suitable for daytime conferences and meetings

What spaces are there available at IWM North?
We have a conference room – Libeskind. This space can seat up to 120 delegates in a theatre layout. We also have our Main Exhibition Space available for evening events. This space is perfect for anything from small intimate dinners served under the Harrier jump jet to large awards ceremonies for up to 350 guests.

What times are the venue open from and until?
For evening events we can offer an access/set up time from 5pm and offer exclusive access until 1am. During autumn and winter months we can offer an access time of 4.30pm. For daytime conferencing, we can offer access from 7am – 5pm.

Is the venue available during the day?
Yes, we have a conference room available for hire during the day. Delegates have also access into the Museum to wander around the exhibits.

Is IWM North DDA compliant? ( Disability Discrimination Act 1995)

Do the rooms offer natural daylight?
Our Libeskind Room has lots of natural daylight, making it the perfect space for conferences and meetings. Our Main Exhibition Space does not offer natural daylight, but this makes it perfect for evening events.

Are there any breakout spaces available?
Yes, we have 2 break out rooms that can accommodate up to 20 theatre style in each. This provide a great option for team building and training.

Does the venue have any outdoor space?
Yes we do. We have a beautiful Quay Side available for event hire. This space is available to hire out for evening drinks receptions and summer parties. Drinks receptions can be moved into the Harrier Area in the case of bad weather. We can also hire out our car park during the day.

Do the rooms have pillars?
The Libeskind Room has no pillars. The Main Exhibition Space has an unusual shape due to the nature of the space.

Can I arrange a site visit?
Certainly, the Events Office is open weekdays from 8.30am – 6pm.

Does the venue have air-conditioning?
The Libeskind is air controlled and the Main Exhibition Space has air conditioning.

Is the venue suitable for meetings/banquets?
Yes, we have spaces suitable to accommodate all sorts of events, and we are a popular venue for meetings, conferences, product launches, gala dinners and banquets.

What is included in IWM North standard DDR package?

When can I get access to my meeting room?
We know that it is important for meeting and conference organisers to get in and set up before theire delegates arrive, and we can offer an access time from 7am, so they can do just that

Is AV included in your prices?
Yes, we include a full AV package. A List of all inclusions can be found in the DDR inclusions above

Does IWM North supply free Wi-Fi?

Do IWM North offer free room set-up the night before?
We can offer a set up the night before based on the Libeskind availability. A supplement may be charged

Can we have our event material delivered to IWM North prior to our event?
Items can be delivered the day before the event between the hours of 10am – 4pm. Please note that everything must be collected the day of the event.

Does venue offer a list of preferred list?
Yes, we have a full list of preferred suppliers available upon request. Our preferred suppliers know our venue as well as we do and this ensures that they know how to maximise the space to help you get the most out of your event.


Questions about catering for events:        

Can I bring in my own caterers?
No, this is not a service we provide here at IWM North.

Can IWM North cater for special dietary requests?
Yes, we can cater for the majority of dietary requests. We ask that these are confirmed 2 weeks prior to the event along with final detail

Can I bring my own wine/drinks for my event?
Yes, however we would charge a corkage fee.
