With guidelines changing from week to week, we know it can be hard to keep track of what event types can go ahead and what the different rules are. To help you navigate the uncertainty, we’ve put together a list of COVID-19 FAQs to give you some information on the questions we’ve been asked the most. We’ll be updating this page in line with any changes to Government advice, and will always ensure that we’re doing everything we can to keep you informed and ensure your events are as safe as possible.

Are your venues open for business events?

From 17th May, most of our venues will be open for indoor and outdoor business events including conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, charity auctions and private dining events such as charity or gala dinners and awards ceremonies.

Capacity restrictions will be in place, with a 1,000 person/50% venue capacity limit for indoor events and 4,000 people/50% capacity for outdoors. Venue staff will not be included in these numbers.

The government has also given special permission for 16,000+ capacity outdoor seated venues to hold 10,000 people or 25% total capacity, whichever is lower. For events with mixed seating and standing areas the rule will be 25% of seated capacity.

During these events all of our venues will continue to operate COVID secure measures in line with government guidance, including social distancing. Group sizes will be limited to groups of 6/two households indoors, and 30 people outdoors.

Can my social event still go ahead?

From 17th May, weddings, receptions and other life events will be allowed to be celebrated with a maximum of 30 people. From 21st June at the earliest, there will be no restrictions on social events.

What makes a venue COVID-secure?

When we say our venues are COVID-secure, we mean that we’ve put all reasonable measures in place to keep our staff and attendees safe from Coronavirus. These measures cover cleaning, social distancing, signage, food service and more.

Can I see the venue before booking?

Yes, please get in touch with us to book a safe, private tour of the venue. Alternatively, some of our venues have virtual tours available online - see our individual venue pages.

Is there a track and trace system in place?

Our venues use the NHS COVID-19 track and trace app. Please download the app and scan the QR code found around our venues to check in and help keep everyone safe.

Will I have my temperature checked?

We will not be checking guests’ temperatures. However, different protocols may apply from event/group booking organisers. Please contact them for their policies.

What cleaning procedures are in place?

We have increased the frequency of cleaning, paying extra attention to touch points such as door handles and light switches. Meeting rooms and bedrooms will be thoroughly cleaned before your arrival.

Will I have to wear a face covering?

Yes, please wear a face covering in the venues at all times except when seated to eat or drink. Please follow the event organiser’s guidance regarding the wearing of masks during your meeting. Children under 11 and those with a medical exemption will not be required to wear a face covering.

Do I need to bring my own hand sanitiser/gloves/PPE?

We will be providing hand sanitiser stations throughout our venues but you are welcome to bring your own hand sanitiser and PPE.

Will your staff be wearing necessary PPE?

To help keep everyone safe, all of our team members will be equipped with the correct PPE.

What are your new capacities?

We have social distancing measures in place at every venue which means that capacities may be restricted. Please get in touch for more information.

How will you ensure social distancing measures are being followed?

It is everyone’s responsibility to adhere to social distancing guidelines. To help make this easier we have new protocols and signage within the venue to help guests and colleagues keep their distance.

How has food service changed?

How we serve food may have slightly changed, but the great taste hasn’t! For example, we have added more grab-and-go options to our menus, buffet options will be plated by our team and if you are attending a meeting we have various options available from soup and a sandwich to delicious Bento boxes.

Can I postpone my event or change the date?

We will do all we can to be flexible to your needs. Please get in touch with us and we will look into this for you.

What is your cancellation policy in regards to conferences and events?

We understand everyone’s event and cancellation circumstance is different so please get in touch with us to discuss further.

Will I get a full refund for cancelling my event due to Coronavirus?
