September’s Q&A introduces #TeamLVP's National Sales Manager, Maria Scullion. Maria works very closely with many of the agents and key accounts to identify opportunities for our venues. She is often out and about and you may have seen what she gets up to if you follow her on Twitter!
How long have you worked with LVP?
For 2 years, and within LVP venues for 7 years.
Tell us about your role?
I promote our quality selection of venues and services to a wide range of clients. Working very closely with many of the agents and key accounts to identify opportunities for our venues and to ensure that all partnerships are delivering to the benefit of both venues and customers.
Best pieces of business advice you have been given?
At risk of sounding like a greeting card or slogan t-shirt…. ‘Do it with passion or not at all’; ‘Be kind and interested’; and most importantly in our industry I think, ‘Listen to understand and not to speak’.
The best parts of your job?
Meeting new people, experiencing great venues, working alongside a brilliant team, and the buzz of finding the perfect solution for a client.
How would you describe the events industry?
Exciting, ever-changing, and often ruthless!
What motivates you?
Pushing myself out of my comfort zone to keep growing and improving, and being a good role model for my 3 year old daughter.
Why do you recommend Lime Venue Portfolio?
We have over 90 venues all connected by amazing food, and with some of the best in-venue events teams in the business! There is something for everyone, and we have a passionate central team who can also do multiple venue searches within a fast turnaround often saving clients lots of time.
Tell us something we don’t know about you?
I can move my eyebrows independently, and know all the words to Bubbler Ranx's rap in the classic Peter Andre song ‘Mysterious Girl’.
Best experience at one of LVP’s venues?
Difficult to choose but would have to say any of my experiences on the Corinthian Roof Terrace at The Kia Oval. A spectacular view of the London skyline, and the ground, with top quality food. The perfect atmosphere and view to enjoy a T20 or to host a memorable event in London.
Karaoke song of choice?
Depending on beverage consumed… – Live Forever by Oasis, Proud Mary by Tina Turner, or anything Beyonce.
What are the benefits of showcases and site visits?
Customers can experience before committing, and go through any details or concerns. Nothing compares to that face to face meeting on site. For venues they get to show off how great they are, and with the right advance preparation it is the number one golden opportunity to turn prospects into customers.
Series you have binged on?
Game of Thrones – roll on April 2019.
