Colleagues working across the Jockey Club’s racecourses took on various activities and challenges to raise funds over the last month with most of the activity taking place during the charity’s flagship fundraising day, Wear It Pink on 19th October. These included wearing pink during specially organised events, selling pink baked goods, washing cars and hosting activities including welly wanging, a specially curated comedy show and quizzes. All money raised was donated to Breast Cancer Now’s cutting-edge research.

Lottie Barnden, Senior Fundraising Products Manager at Breast Cancer Now, said: “We are so grateful for Jockey Club Catering’s wonderful support – the Wear It Pink activities have been a big success in raising much-needed funds for breast cancer research.

“Right now breast cancer is at a tipping point. Every year in the UK around 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and sadly around 11,500 women and 80 men will lose their lives to the disease. So every penny raised into our vital research and work really counts.”

Nick Campbell, Managing Director for Jockey Club Catering, added: “It’s great to support charity initiatives of this kind and we jumped at the chance to work with such a worthwhile cause. It was a great pleasure to help support Breast Cancer Now and raise awareness for a charity which affects so many of us.”

With every penny raised, Jockey Club Catering will be helping Breast Cancer Now achieve its aim that by 2050 everyone who develops breast cancer will live, and live well. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and one in eight women will develop it, with almost 1,000 women dying from the disease each month.

Jockey Club Catering is a joint venture between The Jockey Club, the largest commercial group in British racing, and Compass Group UK & Ireland. The partnership was launched in 2009 with the aim of providing premium quality catering at all 15 of The Jockey Club Racecourses.
