Banqueting House

Whitehall, London, Greater London, SW1A 2ER

Banqueting House is the last surviving part of Whitehall Palace, the Sovereign's principal residence from 1530 until 1698 when it was destroyed by fire. Located on main route between the Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square and marked by the statue of King Charles I, it is often regarded as the heart of London.

Designed by the architect Inigo Jones and completed in 1622, Banqueting House was an architectural marvel for its era. Inspired by Italian Renaissance design the Banqueting House offers a truly priceless experience, to be remembered for ever.

Follow the footsteps of Kings as you walk up the sweeping stone staircase and enter into the grandeur of the Main Hall. The feeling of awe continues as your eyes are drawn upward to the masterpiece ceiling of the famous Flemish artist, Sir Peter Paul Rubens. Built as a sumptuous setting for royal banquets, balls and concerts the main hall has been restored creating a glittering backdrop for a truly spectacular and versatile venue space.

Restoration has meant that the Undercroft, formerly King James I drinking den has returned to its former glory with flickering candlelight that accentuates the wonderfully curved ceiling. This enchanting space creates a truly unforgettable experience.

The Main Hall has the capacity for up to 500 guests for receptions or 400 delegates for conferences and the more intimate Undercroft can accommodate up to 150 guests for dinner or 350 for a reception party.
