Aviva achieves BS8901 sustainability award

Aviva Stadium, Dublin, has achieved the first stage of the BS8901 accreditation ahead of its launch in May.

The accreditation is given for venues which meet the sustainable events benchmark and the Aviva Stadium is set to achieve its full certification shortly after opening on 14 May.

The stadium will be the first Irish venue to adhere to the standard and will operate within the BS8901 management system's key performance areas - social, economic and environmental impact in local and wider communities.

Aviva has consulted regularly with stakeholders including local residents and corporations throughout the planning and construction process. Aviva Stadium sales and marketing manager Cailin Keaney said: "By implementing this accreditation and engaging with these groups, our sustainable performance will evolve in line with developments within the sector. It will also encourage us to strive constantly to raise the bar of our standards."
