5 Pillars of Corporate Social Responsibility
As part of the Compass Group, Lime Venue Portfolio, has demonstrated a strong approach to corporate social responsibility to ensure that all our staff understand their responsibilities to clients, consumers, colleagues, the community and the environment.
People
Our people focus is based on attracting, retaining and developing our employees while looking after their health & safety and making the most of the diversity of our workforce.
Sustainable sourcing
Where possible we source products locally or regionally, purchase from organic producers, employ ethical and fair trade initiatives, placing importance on the provenance. Food is purchased to recognised farm assurance standards and supported by accreditations such as the Red Tractor Mark.
Wellness and nutrition
We recognise our responsibilities to educate and inform customers about the attributes of the various foods available. We also provide healthy options, such as ‘Balanced Choices’ – a range developed in line with FSA guidelines.
Environment
We actively seek to reduce our impact on the environment. This includes preventing pollution, managing waste, conserving energy and employing an extensive recycling and re-use programme. We use biodegradable and compost-able disposables, and work with suppliers to optimise vehicle efficiency.
Community
Our community projects currently include the Junior Chefs Academy, Training for Life (Hoxton Apprentice) and Payroll Giving which contributed to 87 charities in the UK in 2007. Through our coffee partnership we also contribute to the Costa Foundation.
Sustainability Rating
Compass Group's corporate responsibility performance is rated by independent organisations that assess the extent to which companies effectively manage social, environmental and ethical matters and as a consequence deliver improved performance.
Compass Group are a member of the FTSE 4 Good Index Series. This measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. For inclusion, eligible companies must meet stringent criteria requirements.
Compass Group is also a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, which assesses companies' strategies on corporate governance, economic performance and impact on the environment.
