Edgbaston erects 1,000 seater Grand Marquee

Edgbaston Cricket Ground, part of Lime Venue Portfolio has erected its new 1,150sqm Grand Marquee, adding a new conference banqueting offer for Birmingham City.

The semi-permanent structure will stand for 18 months pending a new permanent suite, and can accommodate up to 1,000 for conferences.

The marquee’s arrival marked the start of the property’s £32m redevelopment. The temporary structure boasts a reception area with private bar, kitchen facilities, a ‘star clth’ ceiling and heating and cooling system.

Commercial director at Edgbaston, James McLaughlin says: “Although the marquee is a temporary suite to bridge the transition between the old facilities and the new banqueting suite, it has wowed our clients.”

The redevelopment will include the construction of a new stand with capacity of 25,000. the 500-cover banqueting suite and a members’ area will be developed and is due to open the summer of 2011.
