Praise

Judges praised the efforts to which the Chill Factore goes to cater for the needs of guests with disabilities, including its close association with Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK) and also recognised its positive relationship with the local community.

The win marks a hat trick of awards for Manchester’s real indoor snow centre, which earlier in May picked up the ‘Access for All’ category award in the Manchester Tourism Awards. The £31m development was also awarded a prestigious Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS) accreditation by VisitEngland, the national tourism body for England in the same month, recognising the centre’s first-rate commitment to guests’ needs.

Speaking on the award; Sophie Wood, National Coordinator of DSUK, which has its North West Headquarters based at Chill Factore, said: “It’s great to know that the service we provide people with disabilities in the Northwest in helping them onto the ski slope has played a role in winning this amazing award by the team at Chill Factore ”

Chief Executive of Chill Factore, Stephen Evans, continues: “We’re absolutely thrilled to receive the Enjoy England Tourism for All award. Guest experience is of paramount importance to us all at Chill Factore and we do all that we can to ensure this is a positive and enjoyable one for everyone that visits. It is a particular honour to be recognised for the efforts which our dedicated adaptive ski instructors go to in order to ensure those with disabilities enjoy a first-class ski experience.

Since opening for business in November 2007, Chill Factore has attracted over three million people from across the UK and beyond and has developed a strong reputation for its corporate and banqueting business, which now makes it a popular venue for meeting, team building and events with a difference.

After their meeting or during their event business visitors can learn to ski or snowboard together, with friendly, professional instructors on the dedicated nursery slope, or if they have skied before can keep in shape with year-round perfect snow conditions on the longest indoor real snow slope in the country.

Guests with disabilities can take to the slope in the safe hands of Chill Factore’s dedicated adaptive ski instructors. The specially trained instructors provide adaptive skiing for individuals and groups of any age with any disability, including physical, sensory and learning difficulties. A full range of adaptive ski equipment is also available.

Off the slopes, there are shops, cafés and restaurants on the authentically-themed Alpine village street. Big brand names include Snow+Rock, Quiksilver and The North Face, and food and drink options include Nando’s, Chiquito and Wetherspoons’ Castle in the Air. The Chill Factore benefits from excellent transport links, being just off J10 of the M60, next door to the renowned Trafford Centre
